The script for the men’s final at the Bordeaux Premier Padel P2 practically writes itself at this point. Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia will face Ale Galán and Fede Chingotto on Sunday for what Mundo Deportivo describes as “a new chapter of the ‘Superclásico.’” It’s the 26th consecutive final for the world number ones — a streak that has defined the 2026 season — and their third straight meeting with Galán-Chingotto, who have lost each of the previous two encounters.
The women’s draw, however, offers something far more compelling: genuine uncertainty.
Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen dismantled the fourth seeds, Paula Josemaría and Bea González, in Saturday’s semifinals to reach their first final as a pairing. They’ve already taken down two seeded teams in Bordeaux — Sofía Araújo-Claudia Fernández fell in the quarterfinals — and now stand one match away from a title that seemed improbable just 72 hours ago. Across the net: Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea, the world number ones hunting their fourth trophy of the season.
The contrast in experience weighs heavy. Triay-Brea have been here before — three times this year alone. But they’ve also dropped two recent finals, and Analistas Padel notes that “this final can be a turning point for Icardo and Jensen, who have shown great potential throughout the tournament.” The upset potential isn’t hypothetical: Jensen brings power and aggression, Icardo provides tactical poise and court coverage. If they maintain the level that dispatched Josemaría-González, this becomes a genuine contest.
The Men’s Draw: Dominance Without Drama
Tapia-Coello dispatched Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno 6-3, 6-2 in Saturday’s semifinal, a scoreline that flattered the underdogs. Mundo Deportivo reports that Navarro and Di Nenno “began the match generating the first break opportunities, but they couldn’t capitalize on them” — a familiar story for teams facing the Golden Boys. The match lasted barely an hour.
Galán-Chingotto survived a grittier test against Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas, winning 7-5, 7-5 in a match that featured multiple momentum swings but the same inevitable conclusion. They’ve now reached their sixth final of the season, trailing only their rivals’ output.
The question heading into Sunday (15:30 CET, following the women’s final at 14:00) isn’t whether we’ll see high-level padel — both pairings guarantee that — but whether Galán-Chingotto can finally crack the code. Three consecutive losses to Tapia-Coello suggest the answer, but one break in either set could rewrite the narrative. That’s the bet Jorge Martínez, their coach, is making.
Where Upset Logic Lives
Icardo-Jensen earned their shot through tactical discipline and aggressive net play. Their semifinal win over Josemaría-González — one of the season’s strongest pairings — wasn’t a fluke. It was execution. Now they face opponents who’ve spent the year answering questions like this one.
Triay-Brea bring experience, shot variety, and the understanding that comes from months atop the rankings. But two straight final losses have introduced doubt, however slight. If Icardo-Jensen can replicate their semifinal intensity and force the number ones into extended rallies on the Patinoire de Mériadeck surface, Sunday afternoon becomes far more interesting than the men’s draw.
Both finals stream free on Red Bull TV internationally, with Spain’s Movistar Plus+ also carrying coverage. The men’s match will deliver technical excellence. The women’s final might deliver genuine drama.
