The Adipower CTRL 3.2 was one of my favorite rackets of 2023 because it was a great versatile option that I think suits many players, so I was super excited to try out the 2024 version.
This results in an easier racket that, however, performs worse at high speeds. Meaning: this racket now suits low-intermediate players better than 2023’s model, which I recommended for high-intermediate players. It is also more appropriate for cooler temperatures now with this softer core.
Its softened core results in a medium-high ball output, which is easy in slow to medium speeds, but can result in loss of control and ball absorption at high speeds. It also increases the sweet spot size and reduces its power in flat smashes.
Other than the updated core, it is unchanged from last year’s model, except for the more aggressive paint job. The Adipower Spin Blade is stronger than the Metalbone’s and will help apply spin on volleys and kick smashes. Those looking for the same touch as 2023’s model - with a longer handle - should look at the new Cross IT CTRL.
Reviewers note: the racket was tested in comparison with other versatile control rackets.
