Head’s newly launched Radical line all have the teardrop shape (which might be called a diamond by other brands) and a soft EVA, “Control Foam.”
The Pro is the hardest, heaviest version of the line, which has a 3k carbon fiber surface, a designed weight of 370g, and a designed balance of 26cm.
The other models are in the line and stick to Head’s conventional syntax: the Radical Pro is the medium hardness, heavy version; the Radical Motion is the medium hardness, light-weight (355g) version; and the Radical Elite is the soft, mid-weight version.
The Radical line’s carbon fiber surface is also composed with graphene, a derivative of graphite - a naturally occurring carbon crystal. Head has manufactured its tennis rackets with graphene since 2013. They claim it reduces racket deformation upon impact.
The line has the same soft butt cap of Head’s 2023 Speed line with a long 13 cm handle, which all of our reviewers deeply appreciated.
On the court, the soft touch of the Control Foam results in a comfortable game. The racket does not feel rigid or particularly powerful. But what it lacks in aggression it makes up for in forgiveness. Our reviewers loved it in the defense, which is why many recommend it for right-side players.
It’s softness also lends itself to a forgiveness that both increases the size of the sweet spot and allows for a relatively high ball output, or an easy passing of the ball.
Of course, note that your actual playing conditions may vary based on temperature, humidity, and elevation.
Due to its forgiveness, we recommend this racket for players seeking a comfortable racket that will help in the defense.
And for players who will appreciate the long, comfortable handle and who look for the stability that a slightly heavier racket will provide.
And lastly for players who do not rely on flat smashes and who like the feeling of “grabbing” the ball during viboras that a softer racket can provide.
