All
- "All" is used to report a tied score with the phrasing, "[score] all"
- Normally, when the score is tied at 40, "Deuce" is used instead
Tennis is very old, so it's hard to track its origins with certainty, but much of its popularity since the Middle Ages came about in France. The French phrase for tied at 40 is "Quarante partout", which came into English as "Forty-all."
When counting the score, “all” is used in tennis and padel to indicate that the score is tied. For example, “thirty all”, means that the score is tied at thirty.
